If not arranged in a different way, we will first take you to the lovely Finca Ca n’Estella, less than an hour away from Barcelona city center. By the time you get there, you will be surprised by the change in the landscape as the wine country expands in front of their traditional Catalan masia (country house), dating back to the 19th century, at the gates of the internationally recognized DO Penedès.

Ca n’Estella winery keeps lots of secrets that will be unveiled to you as you and your tour guide explore the premises while learning about the Spanish Civil War and the history of the family that runs the cellar. Naturally, all of it will be accompanied by a selection of the best four cavas the winery produces, labeled as “Rabetllat i Vidal”, two very remarkable last names in their lineage.

Thanks to these cavas and to their still wines, labeled as Clot dels Oms, the winery holds now more than 130 national and international awards, including some of the most prestigious worldwide. If you choose the Half-Day Tapas Option, Ca n’Estella will also offer a selection of tasty traditional Catalan and Spanish tapas to match with your delicious cava, while you learn about the world-famous Catalan sparkling wine.

Afterwards your guide will drive you through the countryside that surrounds Barcelona, crossing the spectacular Montserrat massif, to dive into a different wine making region, that lies north to the mountain. A slightly different climate in this territory allows for different soils, weather and wine culture, that translates into different traditions and flavors. Welcome to the DO Pla de Bages!

In the heart of this area lies a small winery that has played a key role in revitalizing the region, blessed with a breathtaking landscape. From the winery, the whole north face of the Montserrat massif presides the horizon, a scenario only covered by vines and sprinkled by pine tree Mediterranean forests. You are in Oller del Mas winery, in the grounds of a fortified Catalan masia, which history goes as back as the 10th century. A medieval castle!

Enjoy at this point a full meal with plenty of traditional recipes and tasty wine at the winery’s restaurant if you choose the full-day tour option. Whatever option you pick, here you will be able to dive as deep as you want into Catalan history as you sample another selection of four premium wines amongst which we find some of the best wines of Catalonia. A platter of different cheeses made by the local farmers in the area will fit perfectly this gourmet tasting.

You will just find it impossible to stop dreaming about everything you saw, learnt and tasted today on your comfortable way back to Barcelona.
