Montserrat, Tapas & Wine

39,00€ Tour scheduled for the morning

If you have limited time to enjoy the wonders of the area surrounding Barcelona, this is your tour.

The mystical massif of Montserrat, the heart of Catalonia, lies one hour away from the city, surrounded by vineyards – so one morning will do if you want to get a hint of the Barcelona’s country life.

In this Montserrat and wine half-day tour departing from Barcelona city center, the first destination will be this beautiful mountain range. Amaze yourself with the landscape and learn all about its history by the hand of your local English-speaking tour guide.

The hour-long guided visit includes a tour of the monastery highlights and basilica of Montserrat. Hear stories and legends about La Moreneta, the carving of a black Virgin Mary that the monks have kept in their temple for centuries.

You will have some free time after that, enough to discover the local farmer’s market in which the farmers of the area sell their cheeses and honey, or to keep on enjoying the jaw-dropping views. For those travelers interested in art, the tour allows just about enough time to discover an astonishing collection that Montserrat monks keep inside their museum. Such a hidden gem!

After enjoying Montserrat’s mystique, it’s time to head to Oller del Mas winery, located half an hour away from the monastery in the middle of the Barcelona’s region low lands. The winery just happens to be a restored 10th century castle (yes, welcome to Europe!) that has been owned by the same family for thirty-six generations.

No more spoilers though – your guide will be the one in charge to unveil almost every secret this picturesque location has to offer during the wine tour. Learning about the steps and curiosities of Spanish wine-making can only be topped by a tasting of the final product – their ecological wines!

You will have the opportunity to try three traditional wines from D.O. Pla de Bages, the wine region at the feet of the Montserrat range. Wine will be accompanied by a selection of traditional tapas, handmade with seasonal ingredients from the area.

Wine tasting can be quite an exhausting activity, and a traditional Spanish siesta seems to be the most popular option amongst travelers on the bus ride back to the city. We will drop you exactly where we picked you up, in Barcelona city center.

While several wine tours or day trips are offered around the Barcelona area, we bet you a glass of wine you won’t find a better one than ours!
