Located near the Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey is a Gothic church that has tremendous importance in world history. Since 1066, coronations of monarchs have been happening in this beautiful church – 38 Kings and Queens of England have been enthroned here. It has also been graced by various royal weddings, including the most recent wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. Many popular personalities are buried here, including Charles Darwin, Charles Dickens, Sir Isaac Newton, and Alfred Tennyson.

Famous people like Oscar Wilde, William Shakespeare, and Jane Austen have been memorialized in the Abbey. Also, Westminster Abbey is home to the UK’s tomb of the Unknown Warrior that represents several soldiers who lost their lives in the war. This pivotal historical structure of London is best visited with a tour guide. Audio tours are also available in multiple languages and are highly recommended.
