Wasserkirche

Monument & Heritage Check location

No visit to Zurich is complete without checking out the famous “Water Church”. Situated on the banks of Limmat, the church is actually the founding place of the University of Zurich.

Although it was originally built on a small island, the church is now connected to the mainland by the Limmatquai making it more accessible to the public. Today, it is used for cultural and religious purposes and its main attraction are the beautiful windows by Augusto Giacometti.

Not to be missed is the statue of forbidding Huldrich Zwingli, as well as the art kiosque where you can purchase books and prints. Visitors will find the famous Helmhaus gallery within the same building.
