Art lovers visiting the Dutch Capital should look no further than the Rijksmuseum. Home to a fascinating collection of more than 7 million works of art scattered across 250 rooms, the museum features everything from medieval sculptures and handicrafts to paintings and manuscripts.

Rembrandt’s masterpiece Night Watch can be found in one of the rooms, as well as beautiful paintings by artists like Frans Hals and Johannes Vermeer. There is also a nice library at the museum which houses about 30,000 books. Guided tours of the Rijksmuseum are available throughout the day in various languages.

To beat large crowds of visitors and avoid waiting in line, it’s recommended to arrive early in the morning. If you are a fan of rare works of art and antiquities, a visit to the Rijksmuseum is simply a must.
