Packed with priceless memorabilia of one of Poland’s most famous composer, the Fryderyk Chopin Museum is a journey to Chopin’s childhood, youth, and life after immigration. Among the more than 5.000 items, there are his hand casting, his death mask, a candy box, letters, drawings and dedications, a Pleyel piano and a gold pocket watch given to the 10 years old artist in recognition of his talent.

Established in 1954, the museum also hosts piano recitals and competitions of Chopin’s works. The collection of this modern biographical museum is displayed on five levels of exhibition space in 15 rooms. In the room dedicated to his affair with writer George Sand, it is possible to listen to the singing of birds from Nohand, the village where the couple would spend their summer days.

The last floor is dedicated to the travels and last days of the composer, where it’s possible to admire the dried flowers of his deathbed and even a lock of hair preserved by his family.
