St. Paul’s Cathedral

Monument & Heritage Check location

Sitting beside Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral is one of the world’s largest and city’s 2nd must-seen church. This iconic feature of the London skyline dates back to 604 AD. It is the only cathedral to be designed, constructed, and completed by a single architect. Many royal weddings and funerals were held here, including the marriage of Charles and Diana and the funereal of British Prime Ministers Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher. Moreover, the Queen’s 80th birthday celebrations were held here.

The crypt of St. Paul’s is the biggest in Western Europe and is a burial place for many important British personalities like Duke of Wellington and Sir Christopher Wren. One of the main highlights of visiting St. Paul’s Cathedral is the Whispering Gallery where you can whisper to the wall and hear it on the other side of the gallery, due to its multilayer construction.
