Located in Azeitão, Quinta da Bacalhoa is an old property of the Portuguese Royal House, which also includes the Bacalhoa Palace. Its name derives from the fact that the owners were cod merchants. Now is considered the most famous first half of the 16th century still existing.

Built in 1427, the decor and gardens of the Palace have been influenced over the centuries by the different owners, inspired by their travels through Europe, Africa and the East, thus contributing to make it a unique jewel. However, despite some changes, he still speaks his Renaissance style, through elements such as the representative crosses of the Via Sacra and decorative ceramic elements from the 16th century.

Classified as a National Monument in 1996, it is currently owned by the Berardo Foundation, made by Joe Berardo.
