Praia do Meco

Beach Always Open (possibly closed due Covid-19 restrictions) Check location

Located on the western coast of Sesimbra, near the village of Meco, this beach is also known as Moinho de Baixo beach. Characterized by its extensive sand, with about 4 km of extension, is one of the most frequented beaches of the county, gathering several infrastructures of support in the main access to the sand.

Praia do Meco is also known as one of the few beaches in Portugal where it is practiced naturism, being this the most famous of the country. It has a properly marked and licensed zone that extends to the Tramagueira and Rio de Prata beaches.

The sea, however, is usually very agitated and produces very strong bursts, and is not very recommended for bathing. However, it offers good conditions for surfing, bodyboarding and windsurfing. To the south of the beach there are much sought after clays for skin treatments.
