The recent POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, a stunning copper, concrete and glass structure designed by Finnish architect Rainer Mahlamaki and opened in 2014.

Each gallery addresses a different era in the thousand-year history of the Jewish community in Poland, from the first settlements in the forests of the country to their almost extermination during the Holocaust, and the permanent exhibition includes a multimedia narrative with interactive installations, paintings, and oral histories.

One of its main features is the replica of a roof and ceiling of a 17th-century synagogue.
