Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder

Looking for those less-crowded tourist attractions in Amsterdam? Pay a visit to the Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder, a hidden Catholic church that dates back to the 17th century. Also known as Our Lord in the Attic, this nicely preserved church house tells the story of how it was prohibited for Catholics to celebrate mass back in the day.

However, the Dutch authorities at a time decided to turn a blind eye and let people attend the service at this secret church. Today, Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder is a museum where visitors can see the church in the attic, furnished living room areas, bedsteads, and kitchens.

Don’t forget to stop by the museum shop on the ground floor where a wide range of souvenirs, gifts, and books is available for purchase. To unwind after the tour, have a drink at the on-site museum café.
