The archaeological museum, located at 390 avenue de Pérols in Lattes, near the archaeological site Lattara, invites visitors to discover the remains of the old city.

Built on the banks of the pond and the Lez river, the ancient port of Lattara, occupied from the 6th century BC to the 3rd century AD, was an important place of economic and cultural exchanges for all the peoples of the western Mediterranean: Etruscans, Greeks, Iberians, Romans and local populations. After a pause of several centuries, Lattes will become the port of Montpellier in the Middle Ages.

The Lattara Archaeological Museum, located directly adjacent to the excavation site of the ancient port, is a testimony to local daily life in antiquity, attesting to the cosmopolitan market activity of ancient Lattara, situated at the intersection of several cultures.

The very varied collection of objects presented is the result of the excavations carried out in Lattes, but also discoveries made in other sites of the region. You can see objects from all around the Mediterranean: Gallo-Roman pottery, magnificent perfectly preserved ritual vases made of glass, everyday objects, Greek and Etruscan statues, funerary stelae.
