Le Domaine de Meric

Green Space Open in this Schedule Check location

In the 19th century, this splendid estate located at 552 – 634 rue de Ferran was the summer residence of the family of the painter Frédéric Bazille, one of the precursors of Impressionism, which has represented it many times.

From the woods, one can still see the View of the village of Castelnau, as he painted it here during the summer of 1862. The house, with its sparkling pink color (the terrace of which serves as a setting for the painting The family reunion, painted in 1867), the orangery, and a 19th century building all belong to the city, which wishes to make the Domaine de Méric one of its cultural highlights.

Its labyrinth-shaped English garden, terraces, its orchards and its vegetable gardens, its wooded slopes leading to the Lez, its main alley and Mediterranean forest make it a remarkable landscape site, in absolute calm.
