Located at the Spaarndammerplantsoen district, Het Schip is a monumental public housing block of expressionist apartments famed for its Amsterdam School style of architecture museum. This housing block was built in the 1910s and featured around 100 low rent apartments, as well as a post office, school, and a community house.

Today, it is home to the Amsterdam School style of architecture museum that boats a wonderful permanent exhibition that tells the story of social housing corporations. Guided tours of the museum are available every hour and include a visit to the post office, a fully-furnished apartment and a reconstructed slum from the 19th century.
