Opened since 2014, the Foundation’s contemporary art collections, both permanent and temporary, are exhibited on an innovative light and airy building designed by Frank Gehry.

The American architect was inspired by the Grand Palais and also by the Palmarium, a structure of glass built for the Jardin D’Acclimatation in 1893. It resembles an iceberg and also mimics the form of a sailboat’s sails inflated by the wind.

The two-story building has 11 galleries of different sizes, a 350-seat auditorium and multilevel roof terraces for events and art installations. It houses an art museum and a cultural centre sponsored by the group LVMH and its subsidiaries, for the promotion of art and culture.

The permanent collection includes artworks by Basquiat and Koons and past temporary exhibitions included a selection of 200 works of the MoMa, showing masterpieces by Picasso, Magritte and Klimt, among others.
