The house museum in the heart of the city of Barcelona is one of the greatest examples of Catalan modernism, designed in 1900 by the famous architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch, also known for other works such as Casa Martí and Casa de Las Punxes.

Its façade is unique and full of symbolism. A combination between colors, materials and techniques. The architect reinterpreted several architectural styles such as Romanesque and Gothic.

The Amatller House is a journey back in time with all its original preserved interior. The furniture and decoration with the different architectural and artistic resources and the asymmetries that fit the architecture of modernism.

Very present is the figure of Antoni Amatller (1851-1910) who represents the 3rd generation of his family.
A family dedicated to the chocolate industry, with more than 300 years of history. Amatller Chocolates are one of the most well-known brands in Europe.

It is possible to observe in the house some elements connected to the business of chocolates, which Antoni Amatller decided to include, given its importance at industrial and historical levels. These elements are animals performing various works related to the production of chocolate and also sculptures allusive to the journey of cocoa since its origin.

When visiting this whole history in the museum house you can still finish with tasting a cup of Amatller Chocolates.
